MassMutual’s John Bucsek Named Inaugural Chair of New Financial Security Foundation Board
Bucsek, of MassMutual, will serve as first-ever chair of the new foundation created by GAMA International and AALU to produce research for leaders in the financial security profession
WASHINGTON, D.C.— GAMA International, and the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU) today announced that John Bucsek, CEO of MassMutual Tri State, will serve as the first chairman of the Board of Trustees of its Foundation. The Foundation is the nonprofit arm of the organization, dedicated to providing research for leaders in the insurance and financial security industry.
“We are fortunate to have John at the helm of the Foundation as we build a new organization,” said Bonnie Godsman, CEO of GAMA International and president of the new organization. “The research for the field by the field will be spearheaded by a dynamic leader that has passion and purpose to educate and grow our profession.”
“We are excited to have a trusted leader in the profession to lead the Foundation,” said Marc Cadin, president and CEO of AALU and CEO of the new organization. “John understands the kind of research and educational tools we need to elevate the profession and train the leaders of tomorrow.”
Bucsek is CEO of MassMutual Tri State, based in New Jersey, and has grown the company to more than 175 staff and serving over 210,000 clients in the Tri State area. He previously served on the executive committee of GAMA Foundation for Education and Research’s Board of Trustees as vice chair and officially assumed the role of the new organization’s chair on Mar. 1, 2020.
“I am very honored and blessed to become the first Chairman of the Foundation,” said Bucsek. “The merging of GAMA International and AALU enables us to focus our energy and resources. Every aspect of our beloved industry is changing, and some may say we are under attack. GAMA and AALU have for years fought to protect the integrity of our business.”
The Foundation will fund research-based solutions for leadership success in the financial security profession. It is the only organization of its kind to provide educational tools and resources for financial security professionals throughout the world.
Bucsek continued, “Today, the research supported by funding from the Foundation will play a critical role in shaping the future of industry leaders. Our success is not predicated on one project or one individual. It will be based upon all of us working together.”
On July 29, 2019, AALU and GAMA International announced they will be joining to create a new organization. The new organization will be the first of its kind in the industry by bringing together advocacy, leadership and professional development, and seeking to elevate the profession. Together, the new organization will work to unify all 345,000 financial security professionals. Stakeholders officially approved the creation of the new organization and the new Board with an astounding 98 percent approval on Feb. 14, 2020.
